Welcome to Issue 55 of Think Fishing and what a horrendous few weeks we’ve had weather-wise recently. Strong winds, a seemingly endless supply of rain and fluctuating temperatures have made fishing tricky at the best of times. It was early March when we filmed this issue so I thought it was a good time to show you my pellet tactics as we head into spring and hopefully, by the time you read this, we will be into spring and the weather will have settled down a bit (hopefully!).

To show you my springtime pellet tactics, I’ve brought the Think Fishing cameras back to Monkhall Fishery, at Bridgnorth in Shropshire, and it’s a fantastic complex that offers plenty of bites all year round. However, the weather can affect these well-stocked commercials too and the wind and rain have been relentless in the lead-up to this session on Hawk Lake. There’s colour in the water because of the run-off from the surrounding land, and Ben the fishery owner has informed me that the water temperature is only just above 5 degrees and that’s cold!
