Welcome to Issue 27 of Think Fishing and off the back of Issue 20’s Underwater Special, one of our most popular issues ever, we decided to head back to the Clay Pit at Weston Pools for some more underwater action. Things have changed though since we were last there back in late September 2016, and over the winter the lake has been stocked with bucket loads of small F1s and the management has also introduced a dye into the water to help control weed growth which is a big problem on venues with clear water.

Undeterred I decided to fish pellets up in the water to show you how the fish react to this bait and it was interesting to see the difference between loose feeding pellets, both 4mm and 6mm, and also the difference when I started feeding some sloppy groundbait. Without giving too much away it was a memorable session and I can’t remember the last time I caught so many fish! At the time of writing this, I’m still yet to see the underwater footage that we managed to get on the day (I’m down at White Acres for the Milo festival), so hopefully it’s added another dimension to the video and I hope you all enjoy the issue.
