THINK FISHING WITH DES SHIPP
Welcome to Issue 38 of Think Fishing and this month the weather finally seems to have broken and all that snow and ice seems to be behind us now until later in the year. Water temperatures are on the up and the fish are beginning to move around a lot more as they become more active in the warmer water. Despite that though, this time of year can be a really tricky time because although fish are moving about a lot more and you think you;re going to empty it everywhere you go, it’s quite often the opposite and a cautious approach is definitely needed.
That venue this month is once again Alvechurch Fishery near Birmingham, and this time I’m on the Horse Shoe Lake. One my last visit here I enjoyed it so much that I knew I had to come back, and when I saw this lake on my way out and heard it was stuffed with a mixture of quality fish, I had to give a go as soon as I could. With barbel, ide, carp, bream, roach and tench, I thought it sounded like the ideal lake to show you how to approach a mixed fishery in Spring when the weather is nice, but the fishing can often be very difficult. Hope you enjoy the issue.
