What a rubbish winter we’ve had this year and it never seems to be ending! I was hoping that at the time of filming (late March), I’d be showing you some spring tactics that you can use on commercials because the spring is a tricky time of year. But it never quite panned out that way and although I was hoping to catch some fish on pellets for you, I had to resort to fishing maggots to try and get some bites because the water temperature was only 3 degrees and it was more like fishing in mid-winter in that respect.

However, it did show how important it is to prepare for the worst case scenario because if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have had those maggots with me and we probably wouldn’t have ended up catching much if I’d fished pellet all day. This session also showed the important of rotating swims to keep fishing coming so I hope you enjoy the issue and see you all next month.
