THINK FISHING WITH DES SHIPP
Welcome to Issue 29 of Think Fishing and this month I’ve been back to a superb fishery in the Midlands, and one that I wish was closer to home, Packington Somers near the NEC on the outskirts of Birmingham. There are several lakes on the complex and this time I’m fishing Molands, which is a very wide canal style lake that’s home to some big F1s and carp.
One of the best areas of your swim to target during July are the shallow water areas so that’s what I decided to concentrate on for this issue and that meant casting across to the far bank and fishing the margins. Sounds simple enough but on the day it was anything but simple and, with two lines across and two lines down the edge, there was plenty to keep me busy. Add into the mix some big, cagey and educated F1s and it turned out to be a great session with some key points revealed along the way to help you with this style of fishing and help make the most of those sessions when the fish don’t want to be anywhere else but in that shallow water.
Hope you enjoy the issue and see you next month,
Des Shipp
