Doing something a bit different to the norm doesn't always work, but when it does it can pay off big style. In this month's video Des adopts a groundbait approach on a hot day when most anglers would try and catch shallow.
THINK FISHING WITH DES SHIPP
Welcome to Issue 19 of Think Fishing and this month I decided to take the cameras along to Ivy House Lakes, near Swindon. Despite the day being warm and ideal for fishing shallow, I decided to go against the grain and try and catch fish on the deck using a groundbait and worm approach. It’s a tactic that can pay dividends even when the swim is fizzing. Ivy House is an interesting venue because although it’s full of fish, you’re not looking to catch big weights and in matches 100lb is a excellent weight. And that can be made up bream, skimmers and there are carp to throw into the mix as well… and they’re double figure fish so if you can land three or four of them to go with your skimmers and bream, you’ll be knocking on the door of a winning weight.
Hope you enjoy the issue and thanks for your continued support in making Think Fishing the number one online digital video magazine on the market.
